Far Southwest Neighborhood At A Glance

Far Southwest is a neighborhood in the Southwest section of Portland.  Its boardered on the West and North by I-5 and neighborhoods of Ashcreek and Crestwood on the North, West Portland Park on the North and East, and the city of Lake Oswego on the East and South, and is adjacent to the city of Tigard on the West.  Portland Community College Sylvania campus occupies much of the Far Southwest neighborhood. Far Southwest is one of the smaller neighborhoods with only appoximately 1256 with an 80% home ownership rate.  Far Southwest attracts those looking for a rural feel with larger lots.  Mt. Sylvania is also located with in the Far Southwest neighborhood and is an extinct volcano, part of the Boring Lava Field.

Parks & Recreation in Far Southwest

• Lesser Park - 8.40 Acre park adjacent to the PCC Sylvania Campus with natural area and paths.
• Nansen Summit Park -  975 Feet in elevation with a 360 degree view the entire Cascades and Coastal Mountian ranges can be seen on a clear day.
• The Southwest Coummunity Center & Pool - Includes basketball court – indoor, community center, fitness room, gymnasium, kitchen – reservable, meeting room – reservable, party room – reservable, rock climbing wall, swimming pool – indoor, weight room, and Wireless Internet Access.
• Portland Golf Club - A private 18 hole course enjoyable for players of all levels of abilities. PGC's membership is comprised of business, civic, athletic and social leaders who value the ability to congregate in this very unique setting.
• Redtail Golf Course - A 18 hole course open to the public, newly renovated and upgraded to championship status, is a challenge for golfers of all levels. Rolling hills, picturesque water hazards and tree-lined fairways greet you on this easily walked, player-friendly course. Featuring four sets of tees from 5601 to 7107 yards from the back tees. RedTail holds a course rating of 74.4 and a slope of 136. They have 45 bunkers and six lakes which come into play on ten holes.
