Hillsdale At A Glance

The Hillsdale neighborhood is in the Southwest section of Portland and is bordered by the Southwest Hills, Healy Heights, and Homestead on the North, South Portland on the East, South Burlingame and Multnomah on the South, and Hayhurst and Bridlemile on the West.  Hillsdale is within easy access of OHSU and downtown Portland and it at the center of a busy business area with a wide variety of stores and restaurants.  Wilson High School is also located in the Hillsdale neighborhood and is an excellent school and offers a public pool. Hillsdale has a population of approximately 7436 with a 65% home ownership rate. The homes are mostly upscale homes on large lots that are immaculate with a wide variety of styles common to the Southwest Portland area such as Cottages, Bungalows, English Cottages, Cape Cod and Ranch style homes.

Parks and Recreaton in Hillsdale

• Hillsdale Park - 5.17 acres and includes dog off-leash area, and picnic tables.
• Dewiit City Park - Small park located next to the Hillsdale Library with a play structure and picnic tables.
• George Himes Park - 32.36 acres and includes paved and unpaved paths, picnic tables, and hiking trails.
• Marquam Nature Park - Marquam Nature Park is 177.25 acre linear trail that starts south of downtown at the foot of the West Hills. It supports an abundance of native plant species, and has several trails that wind up the hill and through trees such as Douglas fir, Western hemlock, Red cedar, and Bigleaf maples. The trail system goes to Council Crest and the Oregon Zoo. The main trail is less than a mile, with 10 marker posts. The parking lot is located on Sam Jackson Parkway uphill from Terwilliger Blvd. A shelter with information about the park is located at the base of the trail. The park is maintained by a volunteer force the Friends of Marquam Nature Park.
• The Southwest Coummunity Center & Pool - Includes basketball court – indoor, community center, fitness room, gymnasium, kitchen – reservable, meeting room – reservable, party room – reservable, rock climbing wall, swimming pool – indoor, weight room, and Wireless Internet Access.
• Wilson Pool - 2 Outdoor swimming pools, a 6 lane lap pool with diving board and a family leisure pool with current channel, vortex, tot slide, water slide and zero depth water play structure.

• Food Front Cooperative Grocery, a community store where everyone can shop and anyone can be an owner.
• Hillsdale Farmers' Market, open Sundays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm from May through the Sunday before Thanksgiving, and twice monthly December through April.
• Hillsdale Branch of the Multnomah County Library
• Neighborhood House - Helping Portland Neighbors Help Themselves
• Savlador Molly's - A local family restaurant that offers a taste bud traveling experience.
• Hillsdale Brewery and Public House - McMenamins - A pioneering brew pub in the state.
