Doernbecher Children's Hospital specializes in pediatric medicine and care of children with long-term illnesses. The Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center is located next to the OHSU campus.

Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center, located in Northwest Portland, was founded in 1875 by the Episcopal Diocese of Oregon.

United States National Bank of Portland was founded in Portland in 1891, later changing its name to United States National Bank of Oregon. First Bank System acquired the bank and moved its headquarters to Minneapolis in 1997. The parent company then changed its name to U.S. Bancorp. The U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland remains an icon of the Portland skyline, and many U.S. Bank branches operate in the Portland area.
Known to locals as "Freddies" this company pioneered retail super centers that combine grocery and department stores. Fred G. Meyer founded the first store in downtown Portland in 1922.
